VOID/BREAKER Weapon Mods and Best Weapon Choices
How weapon mods, chassis, fire modes, and synergies work in VOID/BREAKER, plus the strongest weapon options from Early Access updates.

How weapon mods and weapons work in VOID/BREAKER

You never carry a second gun in VOID/BREAKER—you carry one gun and rebuild it with mods. According to GamingTrend, you always have one gun, whether a pistol, assault rifle, or sniper rifle, and that gun can be modified and buffed in many ways. The official store description frames this as a "gun-modding system" with "limitless weapon combinations," but no official source ranks the weapons, so any talk of "best" is player judgment or third-party opinion rather than documented fact.
Weapon chassis and unlocks
The official Ascension update announcement (June 7, 2026) added the sniper rifle and "4 new weapon chassis to unlock alongside it." Which chassis exist beyond that, and how many are unlocked at the start, is not officially documented in the sources here. According to Wikipedia, the initial Early Access version included four weapons; that figure comes from Wikipedia and is not confirmed by the other sources here.
Fire mode mods
The Ascension update reworked fire mode mods: every weapon now has its own tailored fire mode mods with different stats per weapon, and the update says this generally buffed all fire mode mods and increased build diversity. Examples from the patch text include single-fire turning automatic weapons into rifles and burst fire making an SMG stronger. These are changes the developer announced, not community math.
Body, ability, and melee mods
The Recalibration update (April 9, 2026) added 19 new modules—one more than the 18 promised on the roadmap—with every category getting additions. Official examples from that announcement:
- Body: Zeus Strike (gravity-tethered objects strike enemies with lightning), BUNNYHOP.XES (jumping out of a slide drops a mine), Ice Breaker (enemies inflicted with ice always take critical hits), Cold Snap (taking damage freezes enemies), Sharp Debris (destruction debris can apply Laceration).
- Ability: Nade Rage (unlimited grenades, no cooldown, briefly), Mine Fabricator, Throwing Knife (high damage, extremely high critical damage), Critical Overdrive, Catalyst Adapter (guarantees elemental application briefly).
- Melee: Melee Reclaim (meleeing an enemy resets dash cooldown).
The sniper rifle and the mod grid
The sniper rifle is the developer's stated favorite weapon so far, per the Ascension announcement. GamingTrend describes the mod grid as a hex-like layout where each slot can hold one mod, not every slot is unlocked from the beginning, and upgrades unlock additional grid slots; it reports a run with a buff that multiplied the damage of adjacent upgrades. Rogueliker describes a "tarkov-esque" limited-slot inventory where mods and upgrades compete for space and some inventory upgrades trade nearby slots for extra effects—both are third-party impressions from Early Access builds, not official specifications.
Elemental synergies and build examples
Official mod text suggests synergies rather than a tier list: Cold Snap freezing enemies on damage pairs with Ice Breaker guaranteeing critical hits on frozen enemies, and Catalyst Adapter can force elemental stacks. Beyond those stated interactions, no official source gives damage numbers or "best" builds. Rogueliker's build examples (icy explosive canisters, ricochet bubbles that ignite enemies) are that author's play impressions. If you want to compare current versions, the Steam store page and the official Ascension and Recalibration announcements are the safest references.
